Kowhai – Website Design for AI & Tech Consultancy
Kowhai is a forward-thinking AI and machine learning consultancy based in New Zealand. They needed a modern, eye-catching website that clearly communicated their services, built trust with visitors, and encouraged action.
Hot Lizard Designs was provided with the logo, page titles, and written content - and from there, we brought the vision to life.
Using the logo as our colour guide, we created a fresh visual identity for the website, combining clean layouts with bold yellow call-to-action buttons that pop against the darker palette. But the real showstopper? The custom-coded interactive particles on the homepage - subtle, elegant, and completely on-brand. They respond to cursor movement, creating a high-tech feel without overwhelming the user experience.
Each page features header animations for visual consistency, and we replaced a basic Zoho form with Acuity Scheduling for a seamless, professional booking experience.
To support their in-house team, we delivered a walkthrough tutorial and built everything with ease-of-use in mind—giving Kowhai full control over their content moving forward.

This feature was tailored specifically for Kowhai to complement their brand aesthetic, showcasing how thoughtful design and a bit of clever coding can bring a homepage to life.
