Background:
In 2023, we had the pleasure of working with a passionate new business owner who had recently purchased an existing creative arts studio. While she was excited about the opportunities ahead, she inherited some significant challenges with the studio's online presence.
The existing website was outdated and cumbersome - heavily text-based, difficult to update, and not mobile friendly. It didn’t reflect the art studio - the owner wanted something fresh and vibrant, easy to update, and could grow with her business.
The Design Process:
We knew this project called for a fresh start, so we recommended transitioning to Squarespace. This would give our client the independence to add courses or update galleries, while providing the professional polish her brand deserved.
Our client provided us with the company logo and updated copy, then gave us creative freedom to bring her vision to life.
We carefully sourced stock photography that would resonate with her target audience and selected a beautiful brushstroke font that added personality and a bespoke, handcrafted feel. We also created custom enrollment forms and designed each class page with gallery features that would allow her to easily update images and keep her community engaged with the latest student work and studio activities.
Timeline:
The entire project took just two weeks from blank slate to successful launch, with clear communication and prompt feedback making the quick turnaround possible.
Curated Stock Imagery
To match the bright, fun, vibrant feel that our client wanted, we sourced art related imagery - including the banner image above. This fitted with the logo of a colour wheel allowing us freedom to select which colours to use.
These images can be swapped out at any time to keep the site fresh if needed.
On Page Galleries
Each class page has a gallery set up to showcase the latest student work.
Bespoke Font
To keep the ‘arty’ look and feel of the site, a brushstroke font was applied to the main headers and forms.
Custom Coding
A little bit of custom coding was added to the profile pictures to make them look like artwork on easels.
