The Pebble Church

Heritage-listed building situated in the rural district of Carapooee, Central Victoria.

We're delighted to share the story behind our recent website project for the historic Pebble Church in Carapooee, Central Victoria. This remarkable heritage-listed building holds a special place in our hearts and demonstrates how digital solutions can breathe new life into community treasures.

Built in 1869, the Pebble Church stands as a testament to the ingenuity and dedication of early gold mining families. What makes this building truly extraordinary is its construction from white quartz pebbles, each one carefully collected by miners and their families from surrounding gold mines. This unique building material creates a stunning visual that reflects the area's rich mining heritage.

The church has witnessed countless precious moments throughout its history. Three generations of the same family chose this beloved venue for their wedding celebrations, creating a beautiful tapestry of family memories within its walls. This deep community connection made the 2020 fundraising campaign to save the church a resounding success, with locals rallying together to preserve their treasured landmark.

Today, the Pebble Church serves as a vibrant community hub, hosting public events and private celebrations. However, the community association recognized they needed better ways to share their story, connect with visitors, and manage donations efficiently.

Our website solution addressed these needs perfectly. The new platform allows visitors to learn about the church's fascinating history, make secure online donations, and discover upcoming events. Perhaps most importantly, it provides a space for community members to share their own stories and memories connected to this special place.

We also conducted online training sessions to ensure the association feels confident managing their website independently. They've already begun making updates, which shows how successfully they've embraced their digital presence.

This project exemplifies how thoughtful web development can support community heritage preservation while fostering ongoing engagement and connection.
